Walk Overview

A fantastic walk up iconic mountains in the Langdale region. Fine views to be had
and what Wainwright called "The finest ridge mile"

The start of the walk

The walk starts from the NT car park at Old Dungeon Ghyll. Here you can see
the Crinkles and the Band leading down from Bowfell

The bad step

Having negotiated the first crinkle, the path leading to the the second and highest
crinkle (Long Top) is blocked by what AW called ...

"The most difficult obstacle met on any of the regular walkers paths in Lakeland"

The Bad Step requires a little bit of scrambling by the route shown OR it can be
bypassed completely by a path on the left

The Great Slab

From the summit I make my way back down to the valley floor via the Band.
In so doing you pass a natural feature that AW called "The Great Slab"
