Walk Overview
A notable walk for myself personally as I completed my 100th Wainwright Fell
on Bannerdale Crags. Overall, a really fine walk with a gentle slope leading up to
Bowscale Tarn taking away a lot of labour getting to over 2000 feet.
From the A66 heading out of Keswick take the road signposted to Mungrisedale
and head for the tiny hamlet of Bowscale. just before a row of cottages there is
space on the right for several cars to park freely
Take the stony track that leads past the Farm building
Through the gate to gain access to the open Fell side
An early view of Bowscale Fell from the track
The very remote and tranquil Caldew valley
The track climbs very gently towards the Col that leads towards the Northern
ridge of the Fell
Looking towards Carrock Fell
Approaching the point where the track swings left and leads to Bowscale Tarn
Approaching Bowscale Tarn
Taking in the views
Sue thinks we are joking when we reveal the next part of the climb
Yep, that`s it Sue. Four hundred feet up there via the hairpin path which requires
some care where it narrows in parts with steep drops
Looking down on Bowscale Tarn
The upper reaches of the track to gain the North ridge
Starting out on the North ridge
Looking towards Blencathra from the ridge
The clear track to the summit
Looking towards Skiddaw

Looking across to Bannerdale Crags our second Fell of the day
The track to Bannerdale Crags is very easy to follow
The path skirts the edge in places and provides some dramatic views
