Walk Overview

What can you say about this very short and easy walk from the new car park at
Pooley Bridge ? - its not the most exhilarating Outlier that you will ever do and it
certainly is the worst view you will get from any summit. Its family friendly, and by
the route described here is the least steep way up to a completely arbitary summit

The car park at the start of the walk

The fairly new car park at Pooley Bridge is the start point for this walk.
At the time of writing this it was £5 for 2 hours, but in all honesty 30 minutes
will be all it would take

Setting off down the road

Immediately outside of the car park on the right is a low lying forest track
that basically circumnavigates the entire fell. We chose however to walk back
down the main road in (A592) to get a unhindered view of Ullswater

Turn right into the wooded area

A short distance past the Steamer terminal on the right a path turns off
the main road and cuts up into the wooded area

The path is stepped initially

The path rises gently

This wide path through the trees offers the least steep option of getting to the summit

The path swings right at a noticable junction

Take the right hand fork that climbs up towards the summit. The left track
continues around the base of the fell

Approaching the summit

Approaching the summit or at least the point at which you cant go any higher

Look out for a solitary stone which somebody has kindly placed to denote the high
point. Click here for a 360 degree view (its not worth it really!)
