A delightful short walk from the beautiful town of Grange over Sands. Great
views all the way and one of the more interesting summits you will encounter
on your Wainwright Outlying fells journey

The gate to the open fell side


Take the Public footpath on the left to reach the open fell side

Setting out on the path


Through the gate and swing right. This crosses an open field that leads to
a wall on the far side

The path is well defined as it cuts across the field

Over the wall and a very pleasant green carpet leads ever so gently upwards

A belt of crags have to be crossed over to get to the summit tower

Through the crags and the summit tower of Hampsfell comes into view

The Greek inscription above the door "RODODAKTYLOS EOS" which
means "Rosy Fingered Dawn"
