Walk Overview
A day to leave the cares of the world behind and visit Lakeland on a beautiful
sunny day. The route to Pike o Blisco from Old Dungeon Ghyll via Wall End
is a very popular route and thankfully the steep climb was assisted by a stone path.
The car park at Old Dungeon Ghyll. At the time of writing it was £6 for all day
Sue thinks I`m joking when I point out which mountain we are climbing
We set off down the path to Wall End farm. The big pyramid behind Kettle Crag
is Pike o Blisco where we are aiming for
Looking towards the head of the Langdale valley
Looking towards the Langdale Pikes
Keep on the road past the Farm
At the point at which the road swings left, look out for a track on the right
that runs up Redacre Gill
The Redacre Gill path
Crinkle Crags, Bowfell and The Band from the Redacre Gill path
The stepped path to assist the steep climb
Looking East towards Side Pike on Lingmoor
The staircase becomes more pronounced as height is gained at which
point it crosses the Gill
Looking back to the full extent of the Langdale Pikes and Pavey Arc
It was tough climbing in this heat, so many stops to sit and admire the views
This little fellow joined us during our drink stop
OMG !!
Nearing the top of the climb and the final steep push to easier ground
The cairned path runs through a series of rock bands
Eventually the summit cairn appears on a big rock plateau

Looking towards Bowfell
We stayed on top for a good hour or so just to escape and enjoy the views.
We were joined by this fella who just wanted to catch some rays

Looking across the Wrynose Pass towards Swirl How and Great Carrs
The early evening sun casts its shadows over Pike o Stickle
Back down for a post walk debrief at The Lily in Ambleside and to raise a toast
in memory of Sue`s Dad
